New USB4

USB4 Technical Specification

The USB4 specification was officially released in version 1.0 on August 29, 2019, by the USB Developers Forum. Compared to USB 3.2, USB4 technology requires the use of USB-C connectors and supports USB PD power delivery. Additionally, USB4 technology has the ability to establish DisplayPort and PCI Express tunnels, enabling multiple end devices to dynamically share a single high-speed link for more efficient data transmission.

Key Features of USB4 Technology

Bi-directional 40Gbps data transfer speeds: USB4 supports bi-directional 40Gbps data transfer speeds, providing faster transfer efficiencies, making it one of the fastest USB specifications available today.

Full USB-C Compatibility: USB4 technology is fully compatible with USB-C interfaces, ensuring seamless connectivity with existing and future USB devices, thereby enhancing user convenience.

Support for Multiple Tunneling Protocols: USB4 technology supports various tunneling protocols such as USB 3.2, DisplayPort, and PCI Express, expanding its application range and providing more options for functionality.

Comparison of USB4 Technology with Other USB Specifications

USB4 technology offers a significant increase in data transfer speeds compared to other USB specifications. Compared to USB 3.2, USB4 supports bi-directional data transfer speeds of 40Gbps, equivalent to Thunderbolt 3, while also offering broader compatibility and greater flexibility in use.
